Intelligent Point of Sale

Overview

The client brief was to create an in-store retail experience (in electronic stores) to ease the laptop shopping experience for the buyers and ease the selling process for the retailer.

My Role

Conducting Primary Research

We began by understanding who the shoppers were and what it was that they wanted while shopping for laptops - by means of online surveys and ethnographic observations in electronic stores. We covered over 5 stores in India and US, understanding people's interactions with human and non-human actors, behaviour and needs.

Synthesising the Data

After analysing all the data collected, we mapped out the point from need identification to making the purchasing decision.
It is not a straightforward journey.

Scoping the Design Brief

To create a balance between technology and experience without oversimplifying the information, thus empowering the shopper with the knowledge required to make a confident buying decision.

Concept Exploration and Prototyping

Translating insights to the product, our approach was rapidly iterating concepts with the tech and business team. The biggest challenge we faced was structuring information in a meaningful way so that the shopper could connect with it, while equally providing the technical information to those shoppers who need it.

Concept Wireframes and Navigation Flow

Proof of Concept

Our final concept was an intelligent point-of-sale application that equipped shoppers with relatable information, enabling them to independently explore device capabilities, compare devices and get recommendations based on their unique needs.
For Retailers, IPOS provides real-time sales statistics, and inventory and allows them to customise promotional offers for devices in
